Actual No Nonsense Whisky
Where do I even start with this?
When I began my whisky/YouTube journey nearly 5 years ago, I had no idea what it would turn in to. And certainly no idea that I would be releasing whisky under my own brand. But here we are!
Introducing the first two releases of actual No Nonsense Whisky
These two absolute beauties have been hand picked by me in a blind tasting. I knew absolutely nothing about them when tasting and I selected them purely on the tasting experience. Both are single cask and presented at cask strength, non-chill filtered and natural coloured. The first two releases are limited to 100 bottles each!
If that’s all you need to know, head over to my partner store, Ooshkie, to grab them now:

Lets look at the bottles in a bit more detail
Release #1: The Dalmore 9 Years
Dalmore are a brand that I often struggled with. The liquid is often lovely but I’m frequently left with a desire to try it without the cut down abv and chill filtration. Imagine my surprise and delight when my first pick was unveiled to me as a Dalmore in exactly the presentation I’ve desired for so long. I think the most surprising thing about this is the cask. It’s not a first fill, or had any fancy recharring. This is a tired old refill cask. Words like that would have put me off bottling it for sure. BUT (pun intended) with the wood taking more of a support role, the true character of the distillery, that we so rarely get to experience, shines through in all it’s glory.
It’s my job to say this, but it really does have to be experienced to be believed.
Notes:
Fresh and clean on the nose. Light vanillas, lemongrass and buttery cerealness. Creme Brulee on the palate. A tang of lemon with cracked black pepper. A long, peppery and fruity finish
Release #2: Aberfeldy 6 Years
Keeping up the theme of things rarely seen is this stunning Aberfeldy. Don’t be fooled by the low age, the combination of great abv and full term in a recharred cask have left this whisky with a flavour profile that is rather interesting and unique. Although there is some hint of the Aberfeldy house style at play here, the wood interaction is the star of the show giving a complete package that, in my opinion, is greater than the sum of its parts.
Notes
Lively and fruity on the nose. Cooked pear and sponge cake. Initially sweet on the palate, then the ABV hits bringing more of the nose with added leatheryness and white pepper. A long and peppery finish ends with some sour barrel influence
