April 2021
It seems like this year is going faster than ever and it almost seems like there might be some light at the end of the tunnel regarding COVID. Or at least that we might be let out for a short spell before it comes around again. Lets hope it’s the former and not the latter.
In any case, I’m working harder than ever to bring you guys awesome stuff on top of my usual review videos, so keep it locked to NNW to be first to know about all the goings on!
As always, I’ll talk about each of the runners up in turn and the winner below them.

No Nonsense Whisky
This month was especially awesome for me because of the release of two expressions under the No Nonsense Whisky label. To retain my usual honest and objective position, I’ve taken these expressions out of the running for Whisky of the Month. Both of these are available to purchase right now on my partner store Ooshkie. They’ll even ship worldwide (local laws dependant). You can check out my overview of them here
Runners Up
The first of two Glasgow 1770 releases this month is the Glasgow 1770 Original. This one is particularly cool because the awesome folk at the Glasgow Distillery personalised the box and bottle (a service that any one can do on their website). These guys are pretty new on the block, but this bottle really punched above it’s weight. Honestly, on a different month, this could have won WotM for me, but that’s just how the chips fall
The second expression I covered from the Glasgow Distillery was their Triple Distilled Release No 1. It’s rare to see a triple distilled Scotch, with only a handful of distilleries creating them. Although this might appeal to fans of Bourbon or Irish looking to transition to Scotch, this one didn’t wow me as the Original did. Nice enough if you’ve bought other 1770 bottles but if it’s your first bottle from them, get the Original or Peated first.
One of the big things I like to do in WotM is select something that people can actual buy, and that’s the only reason the Bimber Peated Cask Batch 1 didn’t make the top slot this month. At only three years old, the flavours that come out of this thing are astounding and really need to be experienced to be believed. There’s a lot of hype around Bimber so their releases sell out REALLY fast but that hype is well earned.
Top Dog
In the previous whisky, I mentioned it would have won this month had it been available. While that’s true, this one would have been second by the skin of its teeth. This Heaven Hill 11 Years from Heroes and Heretics is the second in their Stateside range (sourcing awesome whisky from across the pond). This one isn’t a bourbon though, as it’s been aged in barrels that previously held bourbon. Don’t let that put you off though, this a proper top quality dram that is available at time of writing (though it won’t last long!)
