Branded Content on NNW
This week saw No Nonsense Whisky reach an amazing milestone of ten thousand subscribers on YouTube. A truly amazing event and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to watch and support my content.
With increased success (for want of a better word) comes additional scrutiny and responsibility to not only create quality content that I love (and, hopefully, what you want to see) but to ensure that I am compliant with rules and regulations and, most importantly, open and transparent with my audience at all times.
To this end, I am now taking extra steps to ensure complete clarity, from a viewer point of view, in the origins of reviewed whisky. From this point onwards, you may see wording like ‘Paid Promotion’ or ‘In paid partnership with…’ on my videos and posts. This labels that post as having received that bottle or sample from the supplier. But please to rest assured that my opinion cannot be bought. As always, I will continue to give my honest and frank reviews on bottles regardless of origin. No agreement will ever be made between myself and a third party that dictates the contents of my videos.
I would like to note that transparency on NNW has always been the case. I will usually verbally mention the origin of a whisky in a video and I will certainly always create a note in the description detailing the origins of a bottle. The steps I am now taking are not to uncover secrecy or misdirection, but purely to meet and adhere to the policies put in place under consumer laws.
I hope that my viewership will understand and support the points I have raised above, but if you would like to get in touch regarding this, or any whisky subject, please do contact me on nnwhisky@gmail.com
